What Information We Need to Provide an Accurate Quotation for Custom Plastic Pipes or Profiles
When requesting a quotation for a custom plastic pipe or extruded profile, providing complete and accurate information is essential. The more technical details we receive up front, the faster and more precisely we can respond with a tailored offer. This article outlines the minimum information we require to quote your product, including materials, dimensions, tolerances, and special requirements.
1. Material Type and Requirements
The base material is one of the most critical factors in determining price, processing method, and final application.
Do you already have a specific material in mind?
If yes, please attach the technical datasheet of that raw material. This allows us to verify mechanical and thermal properties (e.g., hardness, tensile strength, temperature resistance) and determine processing compatibility. If you do not have a selected material, please provide:
The desired hardness (Shore A or Shore D scale)
Any regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, REACH, RoHS)
General usage environment (indoor, outdoor, in contact with chemicals, etc.)
We are happy to help you choose a suitable material if you describe the product’s application and operating conditions.
2. Color and Appearance
Please specify the color required (e.g., RAL or Pantone code if available).
Additionally, let us know the visual and surface quality expectations:
Does the product require a smooth, glossy finish suitable for visible parts?
Or will it be used as internal packaging material, where aesthetics are not a priority?
We can adjust the extrusion parameters depending on whether the final product needs a high-gloss appearance or simple technical functionality.
3. Special Material Properties
If your application demands additional performance characteristics, please include that information:
UV resistance (for outdoor use)
Heat resistance (continuous operating temperature)
Impact resistance or flexibility
Flame retardancy (e.g., UL 94 V-0 or HB rating)
These factors influence not only the material choice but also the tooling and production parameters.
4. Dimensions and Tolerances (Critical!)
For pipes and tubes, please specify at least two of the following three:
Inner diameter (ID)
Outer diameter (OD)
Wall thickness
In addition, we need to know:
What are the tolerances for each dimension?
(e.g., ±0.2 mm, or specific ISO standards if applicable)What will be the final use of the pipe (e.g., fluid transport, protective casing, packaging)?
For complex profiles, we need:
A technical drawing in PDF (for quoting purposes) or, ideally, a 3D STEP file.
Clearly marked critical dimensions and acceptable tolerances.
If available, a sample or photo of an existing part can help us better understand the shape and intended use.
5. Application and Use Case
A short description of how the product will be used helps us understand what matters most during production:
Is this for mechanical protection?
Will it be part of a consumer-facing product?
Does it need to comply with any industrial standards?
Knowing the application allows us to optimize not only the material but also the extrusion method, packaging, and quality control strategy.
6. Quantity and Delivery Preferences
While not essential for technical quoting, please let us know:
Estimated order volume (prototype or mass production?)
Preferred delivery schedule
Special packaging or labeling needs
Summary: Checklist for Quotation
Here’s a quick checklist of what to send us:
Material name or datasheet
Hardness or performance requirements
Color (RAL/Pantone)
Visual finish expectations
UV, heat, flame or impact resistance
Inner/Outer diameter and wall thickness (for pipes)
Dimensional tolerances
2D/3D drawing (PDF/STEP) for profiles
Intended use
Quantity and delivery info
The more details you provide, the more accurate and competitive our offer can be. If you’re unsure about any of the above, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to help you define the best solution for your product.
